Cut Spaghetti Dinner
From BBSWiki
Aug 2, 2005 19:17 from The Ruiner
Last night's dinner:
- 1 box (7 oz) Cut Spaghetti (this weird shit that's like a really skinny piece of macaroni), cooked
- 1 jar Ragu pizza sauce
- 1/2 medium vidalia onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1T olive oil
- 3/4 lb bulk italian pork sausage
- 1 pack (3 oz?) pepperoni (the hormel pack with 2 sleeves of pepperoni in it)
- kosher salt
- fresh ground black pepper
- italian seasoning
In a decent sized sauce pan, heat the oil. Add the sausage and brown, seasoning to taste using the salt, pepper & italian seasoning. Drain sausage, saving fat, and set aside.
Return fat to the pan. Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onion is tender, also seasoning to taste with the three above named seasonings. Add the bell pepper and cook a couple minutes more until slightly tender. Add back in the sausage and one of the two sleeves of pepperoni (chopped up), stirring to combine. Add in the jar of pizza sauce and simmer for a couple minutes to get everything combined.
Take a baking dish and put in the cooked pasta, the sauce and a handful of grated Parmesan cheese (oops, forgot that ingredient above). Stir everything around until well combined and pat the mixture so that it is evenly distrubuted. Cover entire top with sliced mozarella cheese (another forgotten ingredient above) and then arrange the second sleeve of pepperoni on top of the cheese slices in whatever pattern you like.
Pop in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted and starting to brown on the edges.
While that's in the oven, make some garlic toast. Take 3 hoagy rolls that are about to get stale, split them, then spread with butter. Sprinkly onion pwoder, garlic salt, pizza seasoning (or italian) and some grated parmesan cheese over top, then pop it in the toaster oven until cooked.
I think next time I make this I'll add more than just the one jar of pizza sauce, because the pasta soaked up so much of the sauce the flavor was there but it wasn't at all saucy.
Also, as a related side note, having super hot olive oil splash out of a pan and land directly on top of your bare foot FUCKING HURTS. Don't stir too hard when you're browning the sausage.
