"...And the Horse They Rode In On" -- Soul Asylum
Their last album before they went pop grunge. Their lyrics were still a bit contrived, but not in the way that was so nasty when Pirner started dating Winona Ryder. The songs "We 3", "(Nice Guys) Don't Get Paid", and "Spinnin'" are some of their best songs ever.

Here's where I offer a list from my previous life - not the best albums ecer, but good albums which were entirely consistent from beginning to end - what I call "prefect", making it possible to be perfect without necessarily being "good".
Pearl Jam Ten Prince & the Revolution Purple Rain Soundtrack Edie Brickell & he New Bohemians Shooting Rubberbands at the Moon Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell Annie Lennox Dive
Hmpf. There used to be about ten of them.

(Trinity Sessions is one of the CDs I always bring with me to test audio gear. On good speakers you can actually "feel" the space in the cathedral it was recorded in. The first few bars of "Mining For Gold" never fail to take my breath away.)

Tribal Sutras, by Tya. Somewhat like Afro-Celt Sound System, if you like their work. Just about everyone I've played this album for has really liked it.
